Fit 4 Piano is intended as a resource for teachers and students. While not a method, it contains technical ideas and exercises that Rae has found most useful over a lifetime of teaching. By establishing movements that are natural from the beginning of learning, progression though the grades is uncomplicated, rewarding, and pleasurable for both teacher and student.

Pipa Dreams in Imperial Garden (2018) for solo piano, is an attempt to capture something of the essence of the Chinese lute. The pipa is a strummed and plucked, pear-shaped instrument, with four strings (typically tuned A D E A), characteristically using frequent fast tremolo with all of the right fingers repeatedly plucking a single string.
The word raga literally means 'to colour', and from that also 'to induce emotion' or 'to arouse passion'. The musical term raga refers to a performance, within the melodic and structural conventions of Indian classical music, that evokes a particular emotion.
Susan Staples Bell has been a Music Educator for over 30 years: with experience as a Band Director, Choir Director, Handbell Director, Church Accompanist, Organist, but principally, she is a Piano Instructor. Her BM in Music Education is from Trinity University (San Antonio) and BM in Music Composition is from UT Austin. These varied musical experiences bring a fresh approach to each of her compositions, as she strives to educate as well as delight! Her Anthems are known for their beautiful accompaniments and interesting Choral parts - like jazzy harmonies & rhythms. Check out her very accessible Piano pieces. More ensemble works coming soon!?

In this short film Howard Goodall explores 18th century music, the invention of the piano and the establishment of opera as a major art form.
Invented by Bartolomeu Christofori, the piano gave composers more dynamic range than the harpsichord.
We find out how the shift away from piano impacted J.S Bach and his sons.
Goodall also explores how opera became a hit with the masses in the 1700s.
Handel was one of the most successful composers of the era writing several operas, oratorios and popular religious set pieces.
Handel was capitalising on great social changes sweeping across Europe as the rise of the middle classes created more demand for public shows.
